Need new harddrive

Currently have:
74gb WD Raptor
150gb WD Raptor

But space is filling up quick so i was thinking of getting a bigger hard drive for my games whats the Western Digital RE4-GP 2TB SATA-II 64MB like that would last forever. Or i could get another 150gb WD raptor as they seem to be great harddrives.

Ok new plan im thinking of ditching my 74gb hard drive and keep my 150gb harddrive and maybe buy 2 more of them so it looks something like this:

150gb WD Raptor- Operating system
2x 150gb WD Raptor- games and everything else

300gb of quality harddrives would last me a long time, especially just to put games on and other game related apps.
 
If you're after performance, have you thought about an SSD? Then again, if you really just want storage though as you say in your second post, I'd say a Raptor or SSD is probably a waste of ££.
 
I get the feeling that storage might not be an accurate description of the OP's needs as I read it more as a comprehensive permantly installed game collection taking up the space rather than videos or photos or whatever.

But yeah my feelings are that raptors seem to have been made a bit redundant by SSDs now.
 
I've read that SSDs give little benefit to games and currently cost wise(£/GB) are nearly twice as expensive as VRaptors.As far as 2TB drives go, you're paying a premium for their size, I would suggest a WD Black drive as a more cost effective solution.

As far as I can tell though they are significantly faster than raptors as well. As for games performance isn;t true that the main difference any HDD is going to have is on load times and little else?

Personally my budget doesn't stretch to either so I am waiting for the inevitable further fall in SSD prices. On this board as a whole though people are loving their SSDs and more people seem to have gone for them than ever went for Raptors previously so if popular opinion of the enthusiast crowd is a reliable metric SSDs win.

But yeah I have gone with the Black as my HDD of choice
