I have some RHA MA750i's and while the sound is superb after a bit of a burn in, the quality is absolute ****. Think I'm on my 4th pair after under 2 years.

Any audiophiles here recommend some new ones for me? Not an audiophile by anymeans, but can differentiate between £10 earphones and £100. Earphones used on my iPhone 99% of the time.

I'm still on my originals after more than a year and they are good as new - you're not using them as a skipping rope are you?

Honestly this 4th pair is breaking down just from being in my draw. First one, I will honestly say I probably didn't take care of it. Used it during commuting and in the gym, so it probably got many hours of use per day. Then I figured I probably caused the issue since these aren't advertised as fitness earphones so the sweat could be impacting it. Got wireless earphones to use separately.... still breaking down.

The 2nd, 3rd and this pair are just dying from hardly any use.

I will admit though, RHA have great customer service which makes me want to try their T20i's. But this experience with their quality has put me off.

Where are they breaking? I wonder if it's the control/mic connection because I have the standard MA750 non-i version

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd broke from the control pod, on my 4th one now and still working. The 3rd and 4th inner cable start causing bumps and eventually they'll break out of the outer sleeving. It's as though the outer cable shrinks.

I wonder if that's where the problem lies then, the cable between the control/mic and Y-splitter? The non-i MA750 has just the two wires in each side, so I'm wondering if it's a manufacturing fault with the wires themselves. If you like the IEMs themselves, could you do without the control and mic and get the standard and slightly cheaper MA750?

Got a budget? I've had the Sennheiser IE80s before, great especially if you like bass. Currently using Custom Art Music 2s which are custom moulded IEMs. Best in ears I have ever heard, suitable for everything (music/games/gym).

Personally for desktop computers I would consider some open backed over ear headphones. Any reason for specifically wanting IEMs? I'm presuming this is for desktop use...?

EDIT: Just re-read OP and use is for iPhone. Would still recommend either the IE80s or Music 2s if you can reach for them.

Come to think of it, it may be the problem. But then again, I had/have this weird issue of the outercable shrinking (I'm guessing).

Budget around £200. Will check out the suggestions.

Thanks, will check them out.

It may well just be that one run of the cable though, as it has more cores than the other ear and they may have tried using the same outer sheath (whoever makes the cables).

Anyhow, for around £200?

The Fidue A83 at £229 is well worth looking at, as is the DUNU DN2000J at the same price.

So is the MEE Audio Pinnacle P1 at £180, not as much bass as the other two but lots of detail and a very balanced sound.

Recently bought e50 (also have e10s). they are excellent. v shaped, detailed, with nice mids and lows.
Had a go with t20s - too bulky / heavy and boring sounds, quite harsh.
shure se215s - detailed but even more boring flat sounds.
momentums - v good, similar to e10s, better lows but less details in mids/highs
