Hi,

Searching for new ISP, can anyone reccomend any other than Bulldog which im currently with?

want something around £15pmsomething around 2mb

Unless it includes a cap in the realms of a couple of GB a month, or is LLU-based, not likely.
Samknows will give you some indication of what LLU providers you can choose from.

Easynet is the business end of a LLU opperation, look at UKOnline as they are the same company and thats the retail/home version (ie cheaper)

There's an extra step between Easynet and UKOnline, although they're the same company.

Also is LLU bad?

Not necessarily. It's not as expensive as BTw-reliant ISPs, and as such, more tolerant of heavier users (or just generally cheaper). It's more dependant on the ISP having a clue though.
Plusnet are pretty crappy really. Limits that change weekly, and a distinct lack of available capacity for a start.

Just seen AOL.

I know they are bad but is that just because of there software they use?

also if I was to go with them would I have to use there software?

cheers

Right cancled with bulldog now and got until thursday to find a new ISP.

Ive had a look on adslguide and found a company called Newnet.

what are they like are they LLU?

also anyone else reccomend me a ISP? I dont mind if its 512kb or 1mb service.

AOL ARE NOT BAD!

Why does everyone think this?

Software - Yes it is bloated but it can work stopping kids looking at dodgy stuff. They dont make you install it, you can run without it! So thats no reason to hate them

Pings - I got a 15ms ping to jolt.co.uk now for £17 a month thats brilliant

Downloading - This is TOTALLY unlimited, TOTALLY!

CustomerService - Yes they are a bit pants but demand to talk to a 2nd level person and you'll be sorted, its not a 5* service but what do you expect for less that £20?

just been told I cannot get aol in my area!

I really do hate where I live now!

GRRRRR

I just realised whats going on;

You wont get the go ahead for ANY ADSL service at the moment as you've got a bulldog provided line, you need to get a BT line to geat aol/easynet/pipex/tesco etc..

this must be the reason as you can get AOL everywhere (except on llu lines)

Erm, why?
If you can get BT Wholesale ADSL (which your current Bulldog is), you can get AOL.

rofl stay away froim tesco they are run owned by tiscali

Guess again.

From other threads, he's not on an LLU service. Though the output from www.bt.com/broadband would confirm that...
