Hi people as the topic says i need a new isp, desperately! ive been with nildram for around 3 years now and the server has got worse and worse

can anyone recommend me a good isp and how i go about changing over from one to another. And how long will i be offline for abouts?

many thnx.

Theres loads of threads about 'spec me an isp' dude

But you could have a look at Entanet ;)

UKFSN here (Entanet reseller), excellent ISP, its a capped service but the caps are very generous, im on their Home MAX 60 which is 60gb peak hrs, 330gb off peak, peak hrs are 8am till 10pm, off peak is 10pm till 8am and all weekend, thats only £29.99, or theres the Home MAX 30, which is 30gb peak hrs, 300gb off peak, and thats only £19.99, can't fault them at all, a cracking ISP. :)

To switch just phone your ISP and ask them for a MAC code (don't say your cancelling) which you should receive by e-mail (they state it can take upto 5 days, but you usually get it straight away, or couple of hrs), then give that MAC code to your new providor then sit back and wait about 7 days (during those 7 days your still using Nildram as normal until your switched), then once you find you can't log on to Nildram anymore (may say something like password invalid) just change the details in your modem/router to your new ISP's and hit connect, you will only be offline for as long as it takes you to enter your new username/password, so if your a fast typer about 10 secs. :D

Ah brilliant :D someone told me i would be offline for upto 2 weeks  that put me off changing even thou its ****. Right il ring them up tomoz and get it sorted.

thnx for replys

Not if you ask for a MAC code, if you cancel you will be offline for about 2x weeks as you'll have to wait till they get their marker of your line before you can get someone else, but a MAC is just like flicking a switch, as i said above you just give that MAC code to your new chosen providor then carry on using your Nildram as normal until the switch is done, then when you find you can't logon to Nildram anymore you know you have been switched, so just change username/password to your new providors (which you'll get from them when you give them the MAC, either there and then by phone, or by e-mail) and click connect again, and you'll be back on on your new providor, its dead easy. :)

Btw sweary there. ;)
