How do all, I hope your Monday is acceptable.

I'm about to drop some cash on either the Asus PG348Q or the Acer X34A but I'm naturally terrified given the multitude of reports of glow, bleed and dead pixels. I was going to wait for the new X34P but I heard that this has been delayed until 2017. Is this true?
I don't fancy waiting anything potentially 6+ months for a monitor that does pretty much what one I can buy today already does (increased curvature notwithstanding).

So I guess my question is, how have your experiences been with the LCD lottery on these 2 particular models? And if my monitor is "not as good as I hoped" (rather than defective) what can I expect with regard to sorting it out?

Apologies if this is a daft question and has been asked before, I'm at work and haven't got round to doing a search on here.

Cheers guys.

NB: I'm pairing it with a 1080 which I already own.

Waiting for X34P is pointless IMO.
First of all, the wait time. Then - I strongly advise *never* to buy Acer displays just after release. They very commonly get released with firmware/hardware flaws and first-time buyers used as testers - then they iron out (at least most glaring) issues in subsequent revisions (which takes usually at least 2 another months to reach stores).

My X34A has been fine.

Overclocked to 100hz no problem, zero dead pixels, panel construction itself is good.

I do have BLB, but it doesn't bother me at all.

I don't change monitors a great deal - last one was a 22" Benq which I had for over 5 years. The X34A is a massive upgrade (in more ways than one) and puts a smile on my face every time I boot up in the mornings.

Also paired with a GTX 1080

Really appreciate the responses guys, thank you.

I'm the same, I'm still rocking my 24" BenQ 120hz screen I got in 2012. I'm a gamer who also need screen space for music production so the X34A ticks all the boxes.

To be fair X34A is not really a new monitor, its new revision of X34 with bugs fixed.

E.g. "blue band" firmware bug of original X34

There also was flickering issue, AFAIK its not quite fixed in X34A but almost invisible unlike many first X34's

X34P is a new monitor with entirely new panel, so I'd be careful of being first buyer of that.

Good point, well presented.

Now it's just a matter of deciding whether the extra 150 quid it'll cost is worth it for the returns policy on OCUK. I missed the offer a couple of weeks ago as I hadn't quite got the money.

If Stazbumpa is using a 1080, would a Z35 with DSR set to 3400x1440 be just as good as an x34, but with a higher refresh rate & 250 quid cheaper?

No. Whilst DSR at that level makes things look better in general than running 2560 x 1080 without, it is not the same as an actual higher pixel density. I'd advise referring to the "35" 2560 x 1080 curved 'UltraWide' experience' section of my Acer Z35 review which covers this in detail.

Cheers for that I'll have a look. The little research I've done since my last post suggests native is better than DSR.

Sorry didn't mean to type "just as good" I meant nearly. But thanks for pointing out the review. :)

I don't recommend Z35, or any other monitor using same panel (M350DVR01 VA)
It has very bad (>50ms) response on certain transitions, esp. from black. This creates quite visible "black smearing", and yes, it is very noticeable sometimes. Such slow response is bad even for 60hz framerate, not to mention advertised 144.

Here how it looks the worst (black-on-gray).
