I currently have a dual monitor setup 24" hyundai and some old 15" proview (I think). (Both LCD's)

So have decided that it is about time I replaced the old 15" monitor as it is just not usuable for anything other than playing videos on it.

So given the deals that are on this week I am a little stumped for which monitor to get. I want at least a 24" monitor.

So out of the 24"+ monitors which is considered the best?

I was thinking possibly of getting the:

Iiyama ProLite E2710HDS 27" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

and have this as my main monitor and retire my 24" to be the secondary monitor.

I will be mainly using the monitor for development work, although I do game on the PC it is less of priority for me these days as I generally game on the XBOX.

Thanks in advance

well have decided to get the Iiyama. I know there are much better screens out there than this but for the money it would seem silly to pass it up.

I will report back with my findings when I receive it tomorrow.

Excellent, may still be tempted to get one myself but I'm thinking of holding off for another few months on mine...

well have got the monitor home and finally set it up.

Out of the box I have to say I am very impressed the text seems a lot sharper compared to my 3 year old hyundai.

Brightness is not too over the top and the eco mode is a nice touch to reduce the brightness at 3 different level.

The lack of high adjustment may annoy some but for me I am lucky as my desk has a build in riser for the monitor so it sits at a nice height.

Plus the other thing that surprised me was how light the monitor is. Again compared to my older 24" it is featherlight.

Haven't tried it for gaming yet.

So quick summary

General Usage ie web browsing, office , development :

Good and chrisp outline to text and brightness levels not to high out of the box.
Like other TN panels colour distortion happens when moving from optimal position. Occurs faster in vertical movement rather than horizontal movement.

Video:
A screen of this size shows up defects in poorly encoded videos such as DVD's.
Anything lower than 1080P looks fuzzy (more washed out) but not sure if this is just a VLC thing. Most noticable on DVD's.

Games:
Still to test properly but running the street fighter benchmark on my aging machine seemed to look crisp and sharp with no noticable ghosting on the screen. but will need to try it with somehthing a bit more intense.
