Hi, my Antec truepower 2.0 480 watts blue up last night so i need a new ATX PCI-E power supply, i was wondering what is good out there? i got about £50 - £60 to spend on one so which one do i get? its for an AMD rig with a A8N premium mobo and a 7900GTX graphics card.

Most modern PSU's will be good enough. If you want silence and reliability then Zalman, Seasonic, Corsair and Antec spring to mind. 400w + should be more than ample too.

Well after my Antec going bang after a little over a year i am not getting one of them again!!! then again to be fair its probably that i just happened to get a dodgy one.

I have trusted Antec for over 5 years, always had their PSUs they are rock solid. Perhaps you had too demanding a system for the given power. Or yeah perhaps it was faulty. Should also be still under warranty by the way. I would get another this time a Trio 550W like I have - superb supplies!

I would always go for Antec, Enermax, Corsair. Personal preference in that order. Haven't used Corsair but lots on this forum do use them and highly recommend them!

What sort of watts are you looking @?

Thats the bit i dont know, i have an AMD 3700+
A8n mobo
2gb of RAM
7900 GTX
and 2 hdd

my original power supply was 480 watts but they blew up so could it be because i didnt have enough watts on my power supply?

Low watts is only an issue with a cheap PSU. 400+ would be fine for most things. Just get a good brand. The Antec one you had was just a one off probably.

Give this PSU Calculator a go. It will give you some indication of how many watts you need.

Yeah 400 should be fine, but if you want to future proof and are possibly planning to upgrade in the near future then you might as well get more watts. Antec rails are always solid so it must have been a dodgy psu is all I can think!

Didn't know that one was out of date (PSU Calculator).

Just try this one (this is updated regular) - http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp

I would still push them if they are being fussy, It is your money. But If you have got products on the way and waiting to use stuff then go for it. You can stll get a refund!

Thx for that mishima thats a great help , according to this i am using 358 watts so you were right with i only need something just above the 400 range.
thx a lot
