hi guys,
I have a Akasa Paxpower 460W v2 PSU http://www.akasa.co.uk/akasa_english/spec_page/psu/spec_ak_p460fg_bkv2.htm
With my old rig (AMD 2500 / Radeon 9800) the PSU would be silent and produce little heat.
My new rig - Q6600 (3.15ghz) / Geforce 8800GT (512mb) / 4x1GB. At idle the PSU is like before but if I crunch an xvid or play games the PSU produces a lot of heat and increases noise.
I can live with the noise and even the heat is welcome this time of year, but the heat will be unberable in Summer. I thought some of the heat may come from the CPU, with the PSU drawing it out. But the problem remains if I remove the side.
I play games or crunch xvids about 66% of the time this PC is on - as i use my laptop for surfing.
So please suggest a replacment PSU that won't be so taxed under load.
I note a similar system on anandtech drew 146W idle and 269W playing Crysis.
