Hi folks,

I've been out of the upgrading game for a long time. Think something like 9 years because, basically I'm not a gamer anymore and I'm quite content with tablets and what you have.

Anyway, my trusty old Vaio needs a bit of a spring clean but I'm so unfamiliar with memory and hard drives and all that stuff I haven't a clue anymore. I ran a Crucial system scan and it recommended some upgrades for me but I'd rather put it to you folks.

Going by said recommendations, could you suggest something better from OCUK?

Says I can take 8gb of ram, am happy with that and I'd probably go for a 250gb ssd hd as they are a bit pricey.

Total budget would be about £200 give or take? I just want my laptop to run really fast again. I watch Blu-Rays, run older games like Half Life 2 and use old versions of Photoshop and browse with Firefox to give you an idea of the tasks it will be put through.

Here's the scan result...

Thanks for looking ;)

Get a SSD. You won't regret it. I put an MX100 in my girlfriend's HP G61 laptop and it now boots in about 10 seconds. That only has a SATA2 interface as well.
