Hi all,

My ASUS X99-S has failed under warranty and can now be replaced, but the S is now discontinued.

Can anyone suggest a replacement? Maybe the Sabertooth or are there other brands I should consider?

Thanks,

James

Using the ASUS x99 Deluxe-USB3.1 myself and I've found it excellent, the SOC is king for overclocking but my 5820k runs happily at 4.7ghz on this board and will boot at 4.9. It's mainly down to the chip anyway as long as the board has an OC socket.

I've historically used ASUS mobo's but the Rampage V seemed to have all sorts of issues and niggles so I opted for the MSI Godlike (first MSI mobo). It's been fantastically robust, feature rich and almost fire and forget.

Aesthetics are love or hate, but I love it and the onboard LED looks amazing. Will take up to 128gb ddr4 and broadwell-e ready with 2nd (maybe 3rd) bios update. Expensive, but does what it says on the tin with ease and a touch of flair :D

Best

Sorry to disrupt the thread but can the 2nd pcie slot be used for a gpu in an x99 motherboard as some wider heatsinks might not fit if the first pcie slot is filled by a card?

Yes.

But you might want to see how many PCI-E lanes go to that slot as if its really reduced it might knock some % off the GFX cards performance.

Checked the Noctua site for the ND-H15 and which boards are compatible, most heatsinks should be ok as thats a wide heatsink.

Thanks for the reply.
