got a problem, the northbridge cooler i have is starting to make dodgey sounds so it needs replacing. problem is, iv tried to use that blue zalman northbridge cooler but its to tall and the cpu cooler (big typhoon) heatpipes pass close to the northbridge cooler so its limiting me on what i can slap on there.

what cooler can i use?

here is a pic so you guys can see how much space i have available.

board is abit nf7-s v2, nforce2 chipset.

ahh, i see it goes off to a side, yea that looks like it will work. will it fit the mobo i have? or is it 1 size fits all on northbridges?

also is that one good enough to run passive or will it need a fan on it?

I'm not certain on that one.

I should imagine it would be fine running passive, it's a monster with heatpipes. I've used the blue Zalman chipset coolers on NF7s/AN7s before and they have no trouble running passive and these Zalmans are piddly things compared to the Thermalright HR-05 SLI

that hr-05 does look small in that pic, guess it needs to be put next to something to compare its size. guess i could order it and see how it goes.

can the pu heatsink not be turned around so the heatpipes are facing the other way?

can;t turn it around, heatpipes get in the way of the bar that goes over the base of the cooler to lock it into the board.
