Ok I was in a shop the other day and they were playing this old skool hip/hop mix CD I was really liking it, and was wondering if anyone on here has any recommendations for the same kind of thing I'm already a big fan of the beasties and that was the same kind of sound, the mix I heard included cypress hill and 45 king etc

First albums by The Roots and Common are quality, early De la Soul, Tribe Called Quest and Pharcyde too should do the trick too.

I still have Electro 1-14 and Crucial Electro 1-3 on immaculate vinyl. :D

Oh man, if you ever get these onto your puta and MP3 them, give me a call :) I grew up on those albums, had most of them on either vinyl or tape. Only one I have a copy of now is Electro UK. Style Of The Street . . . .

Here are a few or my favourites, and the ones that I was into as a B-Boy ;)

The Sugarhill Gang
Run DMC
LL Cool J
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
West Street Mob
Ollie & Jerry
Arthur Baker
Harold Faltermeyer

quoted for truth on all artists plus some Jurassic 5 and cant beat a bit of Run DMC

You say old, which could be anywhere from 1980 to 1995, if you ask me. So here's a range of them all:

LL Cool J
early Outkast
Public Enemy
NWA
Run DMC
Jurassic 5
A Tribe Called Quest
Common
Nas (Illmatic is a crucial album)
Notorious B.I.G (Ready To Die is one of the best hip hop albums ever made)
Will Smith
The Beatnuts
Saul Williams
Roots Manuva
