I'm thinking about buying a Logitech G15 keyboard for my future HTPC project and I was wondering if it's suitable for use with a HTPC as well as playing MMO's or are there any better keyboards out there, especially ones which are full-sized and come with a touchpad as well.

I used a G15 for around 3 years, It was a brilliant board and works well with MMO's. It actually works with a lot of different games, I believe there is a list on Logitech's website also as to which ones. I would definitely recommend it, but you could always go mechanical ^^.

Sneak.

I've been using a G15 for around 3 years now I think... it's been perfect and I haven't felt then need to switch yet. Couple that with the fantastic options for the display, backlit keyboard and the build quality is rock solid.

Still using my v2 G15, I'm sure the V1 is sitting around here somewhere also.
At the time was the most I'd spent on a keyboard was around £80 but that was about 3/4 years ago so was pretty good value for money considering its still in use.

This V2 was a replacement for a faulty V1

As a previous owner of the first version of the g15, I wasn't very happy with it.. But the main reason why is not the functions it provide like macro and such but more that it wasn't mechanical and a tad to big.

Even though my current(mechanical) doesn't have any macro keys or function, I haven't been missing them in MMOs cause I never used them too begin with. If I had to select a rubber dome macro keyboard, it would be the X6 sidewinder. Personal preference I guess.

I'm amazed that you are complaining that you weren't happy with a v1 G15, on the grounds that it isn't mechanical, it was released in the summer of '07 when there were next to no mechanical keyboards on the market for gamers.

At the time of its release, the G15 was simply amazing. And is still good today, though the LCD isn't massively useful, it still has its moments.

Got two v1 models here, one was bought new in 2007, the other 2nd hand from members market. Neither have given any trouble in the time ive had them.

As of right now I wouldn't bother with membrane keyboards anymore, they're slowly going obsolete, but if you must have one then the G15 is the way to go, I've had 1 x G15 v2 and a G19, both were stellar keyboards, great construction, the keys feel nice, the onscreen screen is perfect to monitor things such as: CPU temps, FPS etc, It's a great keyboard.

I gave it to my friend when I switched to Mechanical and that was 2-3 years ago now? and he's only just replacing it now.
