Need opinions on website?

I logged into my test account and I can't seem to send PM either. Bit of a hiccup there. I looked at the register user settings and it claims we should be able to PM.

Maybe something to do with the "newly registered user" permissions.

Anyone?

Newly registered users group members can't send PMs until they get to the new member post limit.

Thanks Kevin. I worked it out and managed to change it. Could you take a little look over my site now and tell me what else is wrong with it. You seem to be very knowledgeable regarding PHPBB.

Very much appreciated.

Not too bad.

Like one of the other guys said I'm not a massive fan of the colour scheme but that's up to you. I find darker boards a bit uninviting.

But you should give it a go. If you have a captive audience of members for your local judo club, get some of them to sign up and canvas some opinions. Keep the MODs as thin as possible. The more you add, the more complex your updates will become, which, with adding rockbridge/joomla, you're already venturing towards.

What's rockbridge... I wasn't aware I had this?

Any idea how to edit the text to appear white? I never created the colour scheme... i just used the template.

Rocket themes are a bit more complex than standard styles. They require you to install a few extra bits which bridge some of the session parts.

Ah looks like you've swapped over to a standard style now so that should be ok.

I dunno much about changing styles. You should have a look at the topic for that style on the phpBB support site. The author should help you out in there.

I think the dark OcUK theme looks better than the theme on your site, maybe you could make yours similar?

Unfortunately I'm a novice when it comes to webdesign, so I was lucky to make it look like that... I used someone elses template, unless I find another that's nice. I'm stuck with the colours.

I'd dump the separate general forums and just have one to start with.

Cars, recipes and travel are a bit disparate.

Have one general forum and then if you get 25% of those posts about cars, then make a car forum for them. Less is more. It's better to have 5 forums with 100 posts each than 100 forums with 5 posts each.

Cheers Kevin, I'll take that into consideration. I'll see how it goes over a little while and then probably end up doing that.
