I'm in the process of trying to help a pensioner transfer his recorded footage on his video camera onto the PC and finally onto a DVD to watch on the telly.

This is proving extremely problematic!!

The only way I've ever done it... was to convert it to .dvd and then burn with Nero.

It's way over complicated for him... I've showed him several times, printed out the instructions/guide etc. It's just not for happening.

Is there a simple way to do this? Some sort of, one click convert and wait...

Any advice would be grand!!!

+1 for Ashampoo. Really good burning software and a good example of the KISS principle in action.

Its the one I use and it works brilliantly.

This is the answer.

Get him to buy a standalone DVD recorder and all his problems will be solved.
After going through the same problems trying to teach Adobe Premiere or Corel DVDFactory or Pinnacle Studio I decided to show both of them one of my Pioneer DVD/Hard Drive recorders and they ended up having one.
Well one had a Pioneer and the other had a £50 job from Argos.

Would it not be easier to buy him some kind of media streamer so he can just playback the recorded file? They're very easy to use and don't cost a lot.
