Need Photo Skideshow 'Collage' software

Can't really describe it in a few words so here's the story and request!...

I'm getting married in October and we (the Future Mrs Simian and Me) wanted to have some (embarrassing) photos of us from Kiddiewinkies upto now plastered around the party venue for our guests to laugh at!...

Having booked our venue we've now got the opportunity to use the 60" Plasma screens in the two rooms to show a 'Slide-Show' photo album!..

I've looked at the Windows Movie maker that came with Vista and I've played with Nero a looooooong time ago!... both made passable photo slide shows, but very standard "Fade from one shot to the next with an array of transitions" blah blah blah...

What I want is to create summut like the 'Collage' effect in the Google or Vista Photo Slideshow screensavers!.. One photo 'Dropped' over the last like someone is flicking through a pack of photos..

My question is: Is there a Photo slideshow creator software package out there that can do this (preferably free but I'm willing to spend a small sum if its reputable!!)???..

I know I could use the mentioned screensavers, but thats uncontrolled and it' throw up the photos in a random order!.. i want it chronologically but still not formal looking!!..

Proshow is awesome for slideshows, although I'm pretty sure it's a bit overkill for what you want in both features and price, but they do a trial although it's not clear what the limitations are on the trial
