need proper virus protection

ok well atm i have:
- avg (awful tbh)
- spyware doctor
- lavasoft ad-aware 2007

i think s.d and ad-aware are good enough but what's the best virus scan to get instead of avg, i have used stuff like avast, it's alright but slows down boot up time, i want one that won't affect my boot-up time and just for virus' cause i already have spyware and adware protection.

is there any other types of virus protections i would need?

generally don't get affected by many virus' but just want to be safe

If you want a freebie then AOL Virus Shield is basically a cut-down version of Kaspersky 6 and is also very good, not quite as fast as NOD32 but slightly better detection.

Just decided to go for Kaspersky Security Suite 7 - £48 for 3 licences seems pretty reasonable.

I was using NOD32 for a few years, but decided not to renew.

(Edit: Downloaded it - but it appears that the servers have not been changed, as it's Version 6. Now updated to 7 )
