Hi, I'm building a new rig and would like some advice on what power supply to get. The spec will be:

Core 2 Quad Q6600 SLCAR which I will be overclocking
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5
Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLi
XFX GeForce 8800 GTX Extreme 768MB (I may wait until the new cards are out to see what is about and I also may get another one later on and have them in SLI)
2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache (In RAID Mirror)
Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7200S 20x DVD±RW SATA
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty
Antec Nine Hundred Case

Can anyone recomend a good PSU that would be up to the job, I'm not really bothered if its modular or now.

Thanks

Welcome.

Definately wait for new cards to be out before you purchase any graphics cards at the very least you'll be able to get the same carsd as now for less money, at best there'll be some reasonably priced cards which are better (not too sure about that, because the new nvidia cards are going to be top end, and the ati cards are going to be mid-range apparently)

You specify an sli motherboard, do you ever want to go sli? If not then get a different type of mobo, p45 is out soon.

As for the psu, I'd recommend a corsair 620W modular. They are very highly thought of, and are modular so you get nice tidy cables.

if i went for the 8800gtx then i would definatly get an sli mobo since i would be getting another one in the future, but as you said if the new ones are better i would not get an sli mobo. Anyone have any ideas about when they are out or any links to info?

Thanks

17th of june for ati, 19th of june for nvidia.

There are quite a few topics in the graphics card forum if you're interested.

If you decide to wait till new graphics come out would certainly hold off on PSU until clear what drain the new Gpu's will be.
