Hi all just got a query on PSU's...

Ive had a new comp for christmas, a micro one from the OC value range and its all very good however it only has onboard graphics. Im thinking of getting a 7600GT as it has good reviews and doesnt bust the bank, but the computer only has a 250 watt PSU which I think must surely limit the card. So any ideas on a PSU that will be ok for my PC and will easily run my PC with a 7600GT installed.
Do all PSU's fit micro and normal mobo's and cases or do i need a smaller one? and can i run the card?

thanks

i think its a bit late and most peiple gone to bed prob to much xmas fun lol im sure you will get some helpfull replies tomorrow.

as for fitting im not sure what pc you got but psus will have *** same power connectors. but can vary in size. a 7600gt doesnt require that much power. but 250 is rather low.

is it one of the primo ones from vallue range ? you mentioned micro but i cant see any mention of micor were i am looking but then its late and my vision is blured lol

anyway hopefully you get better advice tomorrow morning :)

yeah its just the 1st basic value system. the 4400+ X2 one, because its a mini tower so im not sure if a normal PSU would fit im hoping it will because you can get a good wattage failry cheap, as the Card is 47 i could rather do with one for 30 quid,

If you link to the actual system you have we can tell you if it uses a standard psu or not. £30 is pleanty for a half decent cpu btw.

but anyway look at it like this, you can try the card with that psu and see what happens. there is only a very.. very small chance you could "pop" your psu by overloading it. you could also check out the 12v rail specs on your cpu see what amps it suplies and compare it to the manufact website.

i think its standard because i just put an old one up next to it and it was the same size, so i just need one that has the right connections. Nowadays do they all come with same connections?
