Need ram advice for an opty

ok ive decided to jump to duel core as i have been doing a lot of multi tasks etc lately, goin for an opty 165. what would be the best ram for this? at the moment i have Corsair XMS 3200 , but it doesent clock that well tbh, 220mhz it maxes out on for me. i wanna keep as close to 1:1 as i can really.

any advice will help a lot

If you want to keep to 1:1 then I suggest getting a 2x1gb set of PC4000; this should get you to 260-270fsb with a good set from either Mushkin, OCZ or Corsair (sure others will point to other brands).

I would also say though that you should not be put off using a divider when overclocking as makes hardly any difference (if any) on a A64 setup.

Totally agree. Only thing you will lose using a divider is memory bandwidth (aparantly) but from what most say is that you shouldn't notice a difference.

PC4000 at 260-270 will only net you 2.4Ghz (267). I have Gskill PC4000 and that's around the limit.

Otherwise you need a divider
