hey all,

about to order a q6600 g0, abit ip35 pro and i need some reccomendations on ram,

ideally i would like to future proof the system as much as possible, altho i dont want to pay ddr3 prices jsut yet, and i will also need 4gb or maybe more for design work at uni.

is it worth buying 2x2gb sets by g.skill, or better going for something like the ballistix, or the geil on this week only?

please help

Unless you are using a 64-bit OS it's pointless buying 4GB of RAM as only 3Gb will be registered.

DDR2 RAM will be around for a while despite the availabilty of DDR3 and given that DDR2 is so cheap at the moment, buying DDR2 isn't going to break the bank.

I think any branded memory is going to be decent enough.. It's quality though comes with it's ability to overclock the RAM (not the system). My advice.. buy the fastest RAM at the cheapest price... the faster the RAM the greater potential you have to up the system speed :)

Personally, I like ..http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

No, because as I said, all branded RAM is going to be decent enough. Just buy the cheapest you can get for the desired speed.

So if you don't intend on doing ANY overclocking (depending on the processor you have or buying), then these will be fine with :

Otherwise go for some of these and overclock your system bus to performance bliss :)
