Friend has ancient Packard Bell BV Easynote MZ35 Laptop which is struggling to run Vista Home.

Searching online it says the spec of that machine comes with 1024MB RAM and 80GB HD. Well hers reports just 448MB RAM and 48GB HD, so I'm assuming they revised the model with an improved spec.

Trouble is I don't know what this older machine will take? Could do with 2GB really, but not even sure if it has two slots.

Thanks

Hi Andy

Not sure if there's a manual still knocking around, I've found a dismantle guide from Packard Bell so I might whip it open next time I go round and see what's already sat in there.

CPU-Z is probably a simpler step than taking it apart.

If its old enough to need DDR rather than DDR2 then things may be difficult.

May I suggest simply not running vista on it?

Yeah going down to XP might be a good option, it's such a low spec machine for running vista, the whole thing looks like Windows 2000. I think I'll give CPU-Z a go first, see what it'll take and the see what I can get hold of.
