Intel E6300 CPU & Gigabyte DS3
I need help to pick a card that will complement that setup very well. Will get 2gb of RAM but havent decided on what yet.

So what is a good fast card under £200 that will not be the bottle neck in the system. I play Warcraft in in high res and with lots of detail so need something to push that above 40fps.

I have a Gainward GeForce 6800LE 128MB DDR and it sucks ass. Get 3FPS when there are a lot of peolpe on screen. Didnt overclock at all well which was a suprise.

So i need a very good card that i probably wont be overclocking. So what is the best i can get at the moment?

Thanks in advance.

I think more memory would help (X1950Pro - 512MB), but the extra rendering power will might be more beneficial. What res do you game @? and when would you be next upgrading?

Unless you're planning on keeping your card for a fair while, I wouldn't worry about 512MB on cards just yet.

It's starting to become a little bit more mainstream but if you're upgrading in less than a year wait till then.

PCI-E Cards,

7600 GS (£69) , 7600 GT (£84) , 7900 GS (£108) , x1950 Pro (£119) , x1950 XT (£162) , 8800 GTS (£259) , 8800 GTX (£352) .

There is a bit of a gap around the £200 mark, and has been for a while. Your options are:-

(a) spend less, get a x1950 Pro or a x1950XT
(b) spend more, get a 8800 GTS (great card :D )
(c) wait for the mid range G80 cards, like the 8800 GTS 320MB and the 8600, due in the next few months.

Seems like the 8800 is out of my league in terms off prices!

I can just about scrape a x1950XT though the z1950 PRO is cheaper and got 512mb RAM.

So its come down between these 2 cards. I play at RES 1200*1200 (or something like that) so i just need a lot of FPS at that RES. Only games i play are WoW and Counter Strike so i need them to run smmooothhhee!

So if the 1950XT kicks the ass off my shity GeForce Le6800 then its the card to go with. If its only a small upgrade then i need to sell my liver and get the 8800 somehow!

So what should it be? >.<

The x1950xt will r0x0r the b0x0r of the 6800LE.

That said, I agree - save up and get something a bit better when the new mid-range 8800s appear :)

The X1950XT absolutely annhilates the 6800.

Excellent!

Ok only thing left to find is a nice PSU and decide on a whats good RAM and i'll get my order together at lunch time :)

Thanks guys! Feel like a Kid at Xmas :)

Yep id agree on the x1950 XT, cracking cards those, but as said if you can wait a couple of weeks then the 320mb 8800 GTS will be coming out, and thats supposed to be around x1950/7900 series prices, and for PSU id say Corsair. :)

a gtx would be nice althought it all depends on what clock speed u get i find 3gig is nice for my 8800 gtx tho i am a little cpu limited at 3.0 now.

forget the x1950 the gts is the way to go.
