i not very updated with my hardware was hoping some one may be able to tell me what kinda specs/ budget will i need to play crysis 2 on say a 20" screen i think its 1680x1050 res?

£1K should do it.

Dont need to spend that much, imo

2 options, AMD/ATi bit cheaper, Intel/NVidia bit better, nothing stopping you having AMD/NVidia or Intel/ATi BTW - It is also worth noting this AMD spec supports xfire (not SLi) which would allow for adition of 2nd card in the future, where as the Intel would be single card set up only

AMD/ATi option

OcUK ATI Radeon 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £209.99
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £109.99
Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) £67.99

GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel (GVP34GB1600C9DC) £37.99

Intel/NVidia option

How have you managed to spec a pc for a game thats not released yet? and no system specs to run it at good settings have been released?

crystal ball?

Ahh missed the 2 part, fair point, but both these should still be capable, though I know Crysis 1 crippled most PCs. Though conversely how have you managed to give a budget then? :p

A 1K budget will get the best stuff on the market:p

How do you know those two specs are capable?

I dont, anyway enough arguing, you seem very argumentitive this past week or so Stulid

I misread the OP, missed the 2 part in Crysis and the way I read the OP was he was after a capable gaming machine for a reasonable budget

Yes to the OP, whilst the 2 specs above are capable gaming machines, certainly for your res, no one will be able to do an accurate spec until the game is released and/or benched which ever happens first

A grand will definitely do it (assuming you need to replace everything and want to maximise lifespan).

Crysis 1 recommended specs:

OS - Windows XP / Vista
Processor - Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Memory - 2.0 GB RAM
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

IIRC, that was propoer hardcore for 2007. Assuming we're talking a similar situation, ideally:

2500k
4gb
GTX570

That has to be the minimum surely, or rubbish low settings so it looks like lego blocks

Hot off the press :D of EA Germany

Crysis 2 will require at least:

•A Core 2 Duo or Athlon 64 X2 processor clocked at 2GHz
•2GB of RAM
•A GeForce 8800 GT or Radeon HD 3850 with 512MB of video memory
•9GB of hard-drive space
•DirectX 9.0c-compatible audio
•And, of course, a keyboard and mouse (Xbox 360 controllers will also be supported on Windows).
