Hi guys,

I currently got an NZXT Tempest case. It has always been a silent case. But recently i find that when its really quiet, like at night, the fans sound SO much louder, partly because the case is on the same table as my monitor and about 2-3 feet away from me.

I guess i kinda made it worse because now i cant help but focus on the noise so I NEED some silent fans. I require 3 x 120mm fans as intakes (2 in front and 1 on the side window) and 2 x 140mm fans for the top exhaust. I would prefer at least one of the 120mm ones to have leds for the side window, I ♥ LEDs :D.

I've heard a lot about the akasa apache being silent at FULL Speed, but i need some owners to verify that and also does it come with a molex adapter?

Heres what ive come up with so far (ignore the gfx card :)) : Further recommendations are welcome, and cheaper ones too (spending £40+ on fans seems crazy:eek:)

Mine is nearly 100% silent at full speed, really great fan! It shifts a great amount of air as well!

Rubber mounts only.

Check the Akasa 180mm fan; it is even quieter and produces a similar amount of airflow!

Noise is subjective. Some people seem to think fans are silent as long as they can't hear them over other, louder fans. Or that it's silent because they happen to live next to an airport.

No fan is silent. In case that isn't clear, any fan is always going to make noise.

I'm yet to meet a fan that I would consider quiet at full speed. My 1600rpm s-flex are quiet at 7V, but not silent by any stretch of the imagination.

Can testify the 140mm fractals are silent even at full speed, but they are low rpms anyway.
The akasa Apache that i have 2 on the cpu cooler and 1 at the rear i can hear at full speed, but turned down to 1000 rpms and they become silent though still able to give a good amount of airflow.

Thats very true, at the time i had my q6600 at 3.8ghz, when benching/stress testing, all 5 2000 rpm fans were ran at full speed, i barely heard them as my other hobby of clay pigeon shooting has left me with bad hearing, i think even delta fans would sound quiet to me.

The Apache fan is silent itself but you can defintely hear the loud turbulence of air being pushed through. When over 1050/1100 rpm. Max speed they sound like an Apache lol

Akasa Apaches is only silent (including airflow noise) below 900/950 rpm.

Mine came with 4pin molex and rubber mounts.

After reading your post properly. You wont need the Apaches as they are best suited towards CPU cooling. For a cheaper alternative get 5x 4-pin molex Fan Speed Noise Reduction Cable - 12v > 7v. They dont sell them here but you could find it easily somewhere. This would sort out the noise problem and forget the LEDs you'll grow out of it later:)
