Which faceplates have people used?
I don't like the euro module style ones as they just look like they're straight out of an office.
Anyone recommend any more home friendly versions? Possibly brushed metal or something and without the label holders. I've found some but they're really expensive for what they should cost.
You can buy them in separate parts, back box, connectors and surround plate. Buying all the bits separate like that though will normally cost you more.
Personally i buy basically ready made/assembled ones like this...

with a backbox like this...

I know not what you want but bare with me to the end....
You can also get singles and doubles etc. You can get away without the backbox if you are mounting things on a plasterboard wall where making a bigger hole at the back is easier than with a brick/concrete wall. Cost for a quad plate and box like that is around £5-10 depending where you buy and more if you go to somewhere like wickes. I paid something like £4 for a quad faceplate and £3 for doubles.
Solution 1......
The separate method involves buying a surround like these...

then buying the modules to fit and a backbox if needed it will cost you a bomb that metal surround plate on its own is about £12.
Each keystone jack/module will be £1-3 and the backbox again about £1-2 online and double that from highstreet merchants. The back box and keystone jacks thereself are basically neigh on impossible to find in a steel/chrome finish so the extra cost just to have a pretty surround IMO is utterly pointless.
Solution 2....
The cheap way to possible do it is buy what i use (IE the white boxes/plates above) and then buy a roll of aluminium vinyl wrap (type of stuff they wrap cars in) off fleabay for around £5 for a 50(ish) x 50(ish) sheet/roll and get busy with the stanley knife and mrs hairdryer (or heat gun if you are posh) cut and apply the vinyl to your surround and box.
