Hey guys
So I've always said to myself id upgrade my pc in two years time, well its two years and I need some advixe.
Atm I run an i7 2600 @ 3.4ggz, 6gb gddr5 ram, sapphire 6870 and pretty much plan to get a new gcard and more ram,.I play games on fairky good fps, most games are ok the ones I plan to pkay however on hiher graphics are Battlefield 3, just cause 2, metro2033 and a few orhers, I hate having to run lowish on bf3 to get 60fpsSo I wana get a 680 nvidia, indont overclock and wont be overcloxkimg so I assume a standard ome for 370£ will satisfy my needsAnd for ram I wanna get 16 gb 1600mhz corsair ones, in 2 8gb cards
Thoughts, how well would I be running games on high to max graphica on this rig on 1920x1080? But I have no idea if a 680 would fit in my zalman z9 plus case

Have you been drinking again agentjohnson? ;)

I see that your sig says that you now have a GTX680..?

Oh god I wish, I had to walk home 2 hours in the snow from work! Typed it all in on my mobile so sorry for the troubles :P

I honestly have no idea why Its like that, I have a 6870 atm. Dont remember putting it to a 680!

My current RAM is actually faulty, I had a 2gb stick and a 4gb one, the 4gb one was causing my pc not to load, thoght it was the psu at first!

Personally I would go for a GTX670 if you want to go down the NVIDIA route as the performance gain of getting a 680 over a 670 really isn't worth the extra cash. If you spend a couple of minutes tweaking a 670 in Afterburner it will perform better than a standard 680.

As for RAM, it usually comes down to whatever is cheapest and well branded at the time of order. At the moment I would go with this as it has tighter timings than the other equivalently priced RAM, and you wont go wrong with Crucial RAM. The GPU below is also pre-overclocked, so will likely match a standard 680. And of course if you don't want Assassins Creed 3 or the FTP currency codes, you could sell those and then it would work out cheaper still :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 670 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE Assassin's Creed III & FTP Currency £289.99
1 x Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (BLS2CP8G3D1609DS1S00CEU) £89.99
Total : £390.78 (includes shipping : £9.00).

The card should fit in your case, and with that card in 1080P, you would be looking at maxing out almost every game out there. The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is Crysis 3 which if I recall, requires something ridiculous like 670 SLI / 680 SLI / 690 / Titan to run fully maxed out.

That said I can run it on High with 2x TSAA and low AF and I get between 50 and 80FPS with my single GTX660 (non TI). I think the AA and AF are the killers on Crysis 3.

I'm not much a fan of overclocking and tweaking, can anyone else confirm that this would be a good idea? I game a lot
And yea I have ac3, runs like **** on a 6870!

As I said, the 670 I posted above comes pre-overclocked (if you look at the benchmark comparison I posted of 670 vs 680 at stock clocks you'll see that a reference clocked 670 is still almost matching 680 speed) :)

I have amended my post with additional details. :p

Tempting to say the least, i save 100 £ and gain equal performance. You are one ckever bunny, but tell me, would it fit well in a zalman z9 plus case?
Thanks so much for the help btw

Why thankyou, and thats ok :D

One moment, let me just check that for you :)

Cheers man, finding that on my tocco lite would have been impossible :)
The extra good thig about the 670 is I save money and have more space for possible SLI, with the money I save.

Ill be buying these all on payday!
