OK my Son wants to run Logik software and to the best on my knowledge this can only be done on a MAC ?.....if thats the case ..what are we looking at in terms of price and what MAC to choose ?

at the moment hes using FL Studio on hes Windows PC .

thanx :)

Im guessing it won't be any super-serious use? its not the most resource heavy programme out there, either the Macbook Air (notebook) or even a mac Mini (desktop) would probably suffice tbh.

Well as far as I know he would mostly be using Logic Pro and also watching movies, surfing online .

we ( me ) are just not sure which Mac Mini to get

also....would I be able to upgrade the ram ?

I would recommend sticking with fl studio.
I have used all the major daw and I always come back to fl studio.
However if he must have logic I would say a Mac mini top spec ssd version would be the best thing to get. Although any half decent Mac would so the job unless he is a pro.
Source - I am a pro.

No hes not a pro ....hes been into doing hes own music for a while though..and hes due a PC upgrade...we have all had one....so maybe get him a MAC

and thanx for the help Robotica :)

Get a 2nd hand 2012 mac mini, it was also the last model where quad core i7 was available. You can upgrade the memory and the HDD yourself as well.

However, iirc these sell for more then new new base spec mini which, whilst significantly less powerful, will be more then good enough for the task?
