I'm building a new system. I'm thinking of anywhere between a Phenom II X2 and an i7 920. I class myself as a semi hardcore gamer and am looking for something that can cruise through mad graphic situations with up to 20+ users on screen.
On my last build with a Q6600 @3ghz, 4850 512mb, 4gb 1066mhz, in certain high stress situations the fps would sometimes get low and jerk.
How much of this would be down to the gfx card and how much down to other things?

p.s.: I was also using a single HD back then, just bought myself an M225 if that makes a big difference.
