Looking to do a build for a friend into a Prodigy mini-ITX case with an Intel Xeon E3 1230 V3 as the CPU. There will be no CPU overclocking done.

However,there seems to be a lot of different mini-ITX motherboards - B85 bsed ,H97 based,Z97 based,etc??

Not sure which one to choose ATM!!

I've recently switched from an Asus H81i-Plus to an ASRock H97M-ITX/AC as the price was right and wanted built wireless instead of USB.

Seems to boot faster than the Asus with same configuration of having boot picture disabled so traditional POST screen is shown. But the ASROCK just has a quick message listing what key to press for various stuff instead of classic POST screen. And it flashes past so quick I've never read it.

Can't really comment on anything else as just assemble and use PC.

One issue I noticed with Asus H81i-plus was the AI Suite application. During installation I manually had to disable a feature to do with USB as having it installed stopped Rufus USB utility working.

If you look around, you can pick up the Gigabyte GA-H81N for around £60. It has both a MSATA and mini-PCI Express slots so you can cheaply add a wireless card and SSD. It also supports your CPU.
