Wasnt sure where to post this, so apologies if its in the wrong place...

I have an asus x48 mobo, running a q9650 with 2 x2 gb of corsair dominator ram. Tried turnin on this morning and the ram leds lit up like a xmas tree, how bloody festive.... The system gave a series of shortish beeps before deciding not to POST. I have tried each RAM slot but to no avail. I have tried clearing CMOS and then tried taking the GFX card out. After giving the insides a hoover out i tried again, thinking dust was the problem, this time no beeps at all. I have noticed that the HD led is showing amber on startup and then goes off alltogether.

Was wondering if someone brighter than me can point me in the direction of what seems to be the problem. Im assuming RAM or a new HD is the case...

about 1 longish, 3 shortish ones, I've looked up online and that indicates RAM failure, but was just concerned that the HD Led was turning off, but thinking about it, it would need RAM to enable anyway?
Thanks for reply

already tried that, after giving the insides a clean, i press the startup button and now no beeps...pc lights/fans all turn on, but nothing on the monitor, doesnt POST....

its an x48 Rampage Extreme ROG mobo. I tried unplugging the psu and holding the power button down as was recommended to do this. Then I tried changing the ram slots for both sticks (something i hadnt tried earlier). Nothing has worked, although now, instead of getting no beeps, im back to 1 long 3 short. Ive now put the ram sticks in their original positions and still get the beeps, but sometimes get a later 5th beep, several seconds after the initial ones...

According to this http://support.asus.com/Troubleshoo...p=1&s=24&os=&hashedid=kPGmtxee5RsQVsXG&no=978

1 long 3 short indicate a problem with the gfx card (a 4870x2)... The fans were spinning when i was trying to check that everything else was working, im assuming that doesnt mean its not fried.... Just confused as to whether its RAM or Gfx issue...

ps i still get the beeps with the gfx disconnected and still no POST. It had been working absolutley fine until this morning then nothing....
