Hey guys i have been advised by some friends to stop using onboard sound though i am not sure getting a dedicated sound card would make any difference, so just looking for some advice please, here is what i have

I have Logitech OEM S220 2.1 Speaker, and Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Stereo Headset

I mainly use my headset, but do use speakers from time to time (when the misses is out)

so with all that in mind would it be worth getting a dedicated sound card ? would i notice much difference when playing games, listening to music, watching dvd's nothing too exspensive, unless it will make a massive difference in sound.

cheers, JP

To be honest m8 if you are only doing gaming and the odd bit of music nothing special
then there really is no point in getting a dedicated sound card as the sound cards that are
on motherboard now a days are really good and unless you are doing stuff that is really
sound orientated then there is no point m8.

I have been having the same thought actually, and have been looking at some Asus D2X's, but I'd really like to hear different sound cards, to see the actual difference, as youtube can hardly show this when it plays through your own speakers...lol

If you do decide to get a sound card, a Xonar DG would be the best bet. There is no point spending any more when the speakers being used are so cheap.

If you only use the speakers occasionally, maybe onboard audio will suffice.

@ Wiry.

No point looking at Youtube videos, as you've come to realise.

It surprises me how many people do that, to judge how good certain speakers or sound devices are.

There is no way of hearing and comparing yourself, without buying, unless other people you know have various sound cards you can test.
