Hi Guys

Thx in advance for any info :)

Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard
Vulcan GOLD 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz
Radeon R9 270X "PowerBank" 2048MB GDDR5
Zalman ZM500-LX PSU
Running eyefinity on three monitors @ 5760x1080

I have been running this setup for nearly 2 years now and apart from issues with getting the eyefinity to work it runs fine.
But on the weekend when I went to start up the PC it was dead.
When I looked closer I found that the mobo lights were on but when I started the pc the fans would 'jump' but then nothing else, but the LEDs on the board would stay on.

I had a similar issue with my PSU so automatically took it to be that so I have ordered a new one from OC. But while bored in the house I tried wiring up another mobo I had to see if this was the case and lo and behold everything started up!

To double check I did the paperclip check on the PSU and the fans spins.
But when I connect to my ASUS mobo it just clicks and dies, turn off the power and repeat LEDs come on fan jumps but nothing.

I have stripped the mobo out of my case removed everything including the CPU and the same thing happens. I have tried moving the ram to every slot and on separate sticks.

On the mobo there are two red LEDs one labelled CPU_LED and the other DRAM_LED, when I try to run the power these come on for about a second and then go off.

I have trawled the forums to see if there are any answers and it seems to point to the mobo (i hope not) or the CPU (again I hope not).

I have tried everything I can think of so if anyone out there has anything I haven't tried I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks Again All

Paul

Do not have a bios speaker fitted i'm afraid.
But when it shuts off it is within a second so I don't think there would be any time for beeps.

I have a local pc shop so I am going to pop in and have them take a quick look.

Thanks for the reply Matty
