just got all the bits for my conroe system but i need some advice on what case to get plus psu

i have got ds4+conroe 6400 x1800xt and i will be overclocking this
thnx

For both PSU and Case that is a very low budget considering the rest of the components, the PSU is the most important part of a modern computer.

Seasonic S12 430W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-000-SS) £47 although you would be better getting the 500w which is £75, the 430w could need to be replaced if you run a lot of hard drives or xFire in the future.

That leaves £45 for the case, so the PC7+ is ruled out. Akasa Zen or Super Lanboy get my recommendations, the Lanboy probably the better.

But as I say, your budget is very low for your other components.

any good cases that come with psu plus i thought ati cards need 500w psu

Most of the time when manufacturers claim that components need a certain wattage they really mean they need a certain amount of amps at a high watt draw, which a lot of cheaper power supplies can't do.

The seasonic should be abolustley flawless in this area and I thorougly recommend (HOW THE HELL DO YOU SPELL THAT WORD, I've just been typing it and retyping it over and over and I can't get it right >_<) investing in a decent PSU, it's not something you'll regret.

Thoroughly is what you were looking for, you needed an extra "h" :)

I'm far from an expert in this area but I always thought the Antec Sonata II was a pretty decent option, you get a quality 450w PSU from a respected brand and a fairly solid case which doesn't look too bad plus it comes with some soundproofing. I do know of a few people who are running X1800XTs along with dual core socket 939 systems on that PSU and Conroe is supposed to use less power. The Seasonic is a better PSU but it costs correspondingly more.

That case/psu combo is great, I was going to suggest this before but didn't for some reason.

Oh and thanks for the spelling correction, I wasn't aware I spelt thoroughly wrong, it was reccomend, it just didn't look right. Well, now I know :p

Yey 4k.

Ah, sorry my mistake. You had recommend right before though just to be irritating :p If it helps break it down, sometimes if I am struggling with a word like recommend I think of it as re-commend, commend having one meaning as to give someone advice on the soundness of something e.g. "I commend this plan to the House", re as in repeating. So you are repeating advice, this isn't the best definition ever but hopefully you catch my drift and apologies for the total off-topicness of this post :o
