Hi chaps. I'm thinking about updating my rig with a new mobo and cpu. It's currently rocking an i7 930 3.06GHz OC'd to 4.00GHz and a Gigabyte Intel X58 so it's fairly old but it still pulls its weight!

What sort of upgrade would I be looking at for around the £400 mark? Would it be worth it? I'm out of the loop on all things hardware!

Cheers. What sort of performance increase would I be looking at if I went for something like the i5 4690K @4.4GHz?

Please list the rest of your parts.

Might breathe more life into the system with a better GPU - assuming that gaming is your primary concern of course.

Another option is the hex core xeon (X5650 I think) - there's a loooong thread here somewhere.

Such an awesome, cool running chip.

I'll be using a 390x with it. Also I'll be buying new memory too.
