Evening all,

I'm after some advice, (apologies if this is the wrong section) I have in my loft, a netgear nighthawk router, 2 x sky HD box's, a CCTV NVR, 3g booster box and an Asus AP. I'm starting to get some real bad interference on my WIFI recently. Are there any do's and don'ts with regard to what can be up there and what can't be?

What do you mean by interference? Or s th esignal just dropping? Too dusty? Router vents clogged up causing it to oevrheat? Maybe try taking the case apart and cleaning it out?

Thanks for the comments, at the moment it's a constant drop of (9 out of 10 times) the wireless 5ghz. If I switch the device to 2.4 then back to 5 it tends to sort itself out! I'll definitely try the dust idea. Speed wise is no issue, got a consistent 80mbs.

Is WIFI enabled on the Nighthawk and the Asus AP? Are they close together?

5ghz works best with direct line of sight. Any obstacles, I'd use 2.4ghz..

As this started off in GD I'll give the standard GD answers........ Have you tried rubbing it with mustard and pooed through your neigbours letterbox? :p

Now a more serious answer, my brother-in-law was having similar problems with less equipment and we tracked it to the Sky HD box chucking out all sorts of EM filth. Have you tried completely powering down the Sky HD boxes and unplugging them then seeing what happens?

Personally I'd still try the mustard approach though ;)

Lol thanks for the sound advice!! However I only have 5 neighbours and one of which is my mother!! So i'll stay away from the mustard!!

To be honest, I hadn't thought about the sky box's, and they are right next to the router! The only reason there up there is they run on HDMI over LAN. I'll try your idea. However I have just bought a network cabinet, so i'll have a good tidy up today anyway and seperate everything.
