ok guys, ive got a asus 7950 thats been giving me the grief!

i was running on the 12.3 ccc with a slight overclock on msi afterburner for about a month or so no problems. About a week ago i so weird flashes during a youtube video, then the screen when completely grey with vertical black lines and the system froze. restarted and was fine.
Then few days later playin diablo3 it happened again, this time red screen with black vertical lines. So i turned off the overclock thinking that was the trouble.
Tonight it happened again, with stock settings, but now after i pressed restart, the system hangs after the win 7 loading with a black screen.

So i ran into safe mode fine, used driver sweeper and removed all the amd files, i can now get into desktop, but tried to reinstall amd ccc and it says errors during installiation, i then restart after install and computer hangs again.

Im not sure what to do, and really looking for some help!

Im guessing you haven't got a second computer you can try the card in? I had issues like this when i used to crossfire it would go grey and lines then the sound would get stuck and pc would reboot but seeing you are not in crossfire and you have cleaned up drivers it could be the VRAM gone faulty. If you get no luck with it i would just RMA it.

No second computer where i can test out the card :(

I wonder how it can work on the desktop with only the windows drivers, but not even startup with the amd ones if it is the VRAM gone bad?
Its an ASUS card bought from amazon and over the 30 day(2 and a bit months) period, who should i contact for the RMA?

thanks

have you checked the system for any AMD folders and cleared them out before trying to re install ?

also, have you confirmed via control panel/programs that there are no amd drivers/ccc still showing as installed.

Ive unstalled using control panel, ran driver sweeper in safe mode and normal mode, ive looked in c:/ for ati/amd folders and even downloaded the ati catalyst uninstaller tool from guru3d before trying to reinstall

If you do have to RMA the GPU and it's put up on a test rig you could have a small problem if overvolting above stock is detected :)

ive deleted msi afterburner a few days ago so overclock would have gone? it was only 1020core 1500mem on stock volts, shouldnt of overvolted it surely?

after trying all day and night to fix it, ive had to go down the RMA road, cant send till Wednesday now, cheers the queen!

looks like ill be on the integrated graphics for a while! :(
