Need some cables - not sure what they are called!

Hello,

I've after some cables and as the title says I don't know what they are called to search for them.

Basically - when you buy a USB backplate and you plug in the 5x2 socket into the pins in on your motherboard..... I need a cable that has the 5x2 socket on both ends. I also need the same socket with 24" of cable on that's unterminated.

What are they called and where can I can them?

If i got this right you can't plug the cables into the headers on the motherboard? In that case you need a couple of extenders. I made my own but i believe you can get them on the bay.

I may have something like this going spare at home that came with a cheap (and now borked) fan controller that had extra front pannel jobbies. I'll check tonight and get back to you.

Not quite. In my XW6000 workstation it has the front front audio and front panel USB ports. The small board with the front panel sckets on has the 5x2 pins for USB and the same again for audio, with the motherboard having another set so I need the double ended 5x2 socketed cables. The other one it to mo my Antec Fusion Remote. The LCD panel has an IDC connect for the data that is terminated with a USB plug. Then they supply a 5x2 -> USB line socket cable. I was going to re-wire it was it was a straight 5x2 connector on the end.
