I'm looking for two sets of headphones one set to be used for PC use run directly off the M-Audio Revo 5.1 and also for home use for the iPod
The second set being used only for the iPod when out and about.

This is what I've nailed it down to so far:

Set 1:
Senns HD595(50ohm)
Grado SR80
Bose Triports

Set 2:
Shure E2C's
Etymotic ER6i's
B&O A8's
Bose inear
Super Fi 3's

Any advice more than welcome :D

forget bose tri-ports straight away, worth about half what they charge.

then its what you prefer, do you like rock/dont wear for long time? >> sr80
do want an all round good sound + comfort? >> hd595

im not sure what else there is in your price range, as theres a few other good headphones on the market in this region but im not too clued up on them.

dont know about ipod stuff either, hope this helps a bit :D

I think I've decided on the 595's and I've narrowed it down to the ER6i's or the UE Superfi 3's. Once thing that concerns me though is with regards to the flanges...do they ever disconnect and get stuck in your ears?

Can anyone recommend a headphone amp aswell? cheaper the better but less than £75

are you looking to pair it with the pc or ipod ?

PA2V2 or go-vibe 5 are good budget choices

I would buy both from the guys that make them (direct from the states)

How much better are the Shure E4c's compared to the previously mentions earphones? are they worth double the money?

At the moment I have four sets of cans that I use for both professional work and listening to iPods / PCs etc.

Sennheiser HD25's (about £100 if you shop around) - These are indestructable, I have toured all over the world and yet to kill a set of these.

Sennheiser HD650's (£300 ish)
Awesome sound, very comfortable, reasonably durable.

Ultimate Ears UE10's (£700)
Custom moulded IEMs - very comfy, sound awesome, total (-35dB isolation), but very pricy!

Shure E5's (£300)
Forget ER6's these are worth the extra, and then go to sensorcom and have them make some custom moulds for you for about 70 quid if you feel you need more isolation, and no I (nor anyone I have been working for useing these as IEM's) has ever got one of the tips stuck in their ears!

And yer, forget about Bose *Better Of Selling 'Em* and B&O stuff, they are flashy and also poor when compared to stuff that is of a similar price range (and below)

God I nearly bought the UE10's but decided to go for the Senaphonics 2X-S's instead. They arrived the other week and they are absolutely stunning. I also had a pair of E5C's - before they mysteriously vanished into the ether - and I loved those too!

Definitely worth it if you can afford them!
