Morning all, just looking for someone to confirm what I already think I know...

On Monday I went to boot up my ever faithful pc, when there was a pop and a fizzle. Thought it was the psu (Corsair 620w HX), so I tested it in a friends pc and sure enough it had died.

So, I got another psu from here (Corsair again), and now the pc will switch on, but wont post. I've removed both gpu's, all/some of the ram, s'card etc, all to no avail.

I think my 680i is dead, can be the only thing. All the fans spin, all the led's light up, and the mobo lcd display shows "--".

Dead?

yea, sounds like the psu took the motherboard with it. did u test your ram, cpu, grxcard or sound card on another system?

Sorry for double posting but haven't EVGA's got 10 year warranty's?

In a case like this there's no way of knowing if the motherboard died and took the psu down with it, or if the psu died and took the motherboard down. Consequently both warranties should be valid.

You may have lost more hardware than you expect though. When my board went it took out psu & processor but oddly enough no damage to the ram.

Your board is down and out though, I agree with this. I hope the rest is ok

Yep, the board is definitely gone, the double dash on the lcd display was all i got when my evga 680i died.

Bit gutted if im honest:( Been a great pc for the last few years, don't know what i'll replace it with now. Might just get a little value system, don't really game on the pc now anyway.

Sad, sad day...
