Ok I was waiting for the z68 boards and theyve finally arrive...

I need some advice as to whether the components I have chosen are the best for their price. ie

The ram, should i go for another brand or is this fine, I chose this one based on the fact it had a lower CL rating which im assuming will make it easier to overclock with.

I went for the i7, because I want something that will last me a while. I know i dont need it :P

It is a gaming machine.

Why is the gigabyte motherboard 300 whilst the asus was 170 odd... I probably would have gone for the asus if it was in stock so if there is no difference between the two boards I can grab that part off another etailer.

Should i pay the extra and go for a different brand gtx580? I know gainward used to have a good rep but last I heard they had gone downhill somewhat.

I settled for the antec khuler 620 as i dont really want to wait on the 920 stock to come in.

I chose the case because it looked pretty spacious and i need a full tower as I want to put a few hds in it. I also like the simplicity of its design. It looks sleek. Is there anything better for the money or slightly more?

I intend to order this pretty soon as I want to build it before the witcher 2 comes out :)

Do you think that speed would be sufficient to overclock the cpu though? Im not too clued up on sandybridge overclocking :P

For gaming I reckon 16GB of RAM is a bit overkill don't you?
I have 8GB on my laptop and its never not been enough.

I see you are getting the processor due to the free game? :D

+1 for the 2500K, and go for XMS3/Classic or Vengeance RAM.

Spend the money you save on an SSD (or at least an HDD!).

Srsly, even for just gaming, a £1300 system should have at least a small SSD (<60GB for SSD caching with Z68) if not a 'proper' one (>120GB for OS/apps/games).
