Below is a list of components i've selected for a new build. I've picked these as a starting point and I need some help fine tuning it based on expert opinion.

My most questionable components are the RAM, cooling and graphics card. Ideally the thing needs to be good for at least then next 4 years.

gold ram is junk, buy corsair, gskill ripjaw or patriot viper.

two GTX470 graphics cards are faster than a 5970.

I would buy one GTX480 for the time being.

what psu do you have, thinking of?

you don't need a sound card, onboard sound is very good quality.

Ok any recommendations on the RAM and graphics in this price range then?

In terms of PSU i'm going to go for a corsair tx 650w

and with regards to sound, i'm a complete audiophile nut, got a pretty decent hifi i'd like to hook the pc up to so sound for me is quite a big one.

and yes i'll probably stick in a mechanical drive for extra storage

only other thing to really add to that is that is that you could save some money opting for a I7-930, as it will clock just as high as the 950.

And im gonna make a pitch for the ATI camp. a 5780 is slightly cheaper, and more power/heat efficient than a gtx480. It is about 10% slower, but you could just about (emphasis on the "just about" bit) fit two of these in on a 650w psu. if you ever think about using two gtx480s, then youre looking in the 800w range.

I would go with one 5870,i7 930 and also i would suggest the Coolermaster ATCS 840/HAF as a case as there in my opinion better than NZXT also how about a Corsair h50 instead of the prolimatech.

how about http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-235-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1502 seems decent to me, but compared to the 480?

and for the case i'd like to stick to the nzxt just for aesthetic purposes, but with regards to cooling, this is my biggest issue, i'll spend anything up to £100 on cooling as i deem it important but i really haven't a clue what to go for, the H50/70 doesn't have any reviews on overclockers so i'm a bit hesitant.

Also, one thing that hasn't been discussed is the mobo, any other recommendations?
