Just about to get a new graphics card. It will be at least a 5750 and quite possibly a 5770 or GTX 460. I'll be gaming at 1920x1080.

I'm looking for good single player games, FPS's mainly. I love UT2004 and still play it even now. Also, I enjoyed Oblivion but didn't really like Fallout 3. I was considering the Orange Box but doesn't it have to be installed from Steam? I'm using PAYG mobile broadband for the time being so that rules out massive downloads from there.

I'm open to suggestions.

Yes. Is that a problem?

Just don't fancy paying £15 for every 3GB I download really.

Cheers guys. I've seen Crysis is only around a fiver brand new. is that worth a go? MW2 is one that's been on my list. I'm not familiar with 'The Witcher'. I'll check it out now.

FarCry. Yes, it is old, but a great SP game imo. :)

Saw it for £1.99 yesterday in a high street game shop! :) I loved it when I played it ages ago. Never did quite finish it though. Is Crysis MUCH better graphically because at the time Far Cry looked absolutely stunning.

How many off the games mentioned in this thread have to go through Steam? I've just tried to install it yet it always sticks on 48% when it's updating. What a pile of cack. It's enough to put me off PC gaming altogether.

Now get a message saying 'cannot connect to Steam network'.

This. If you can find the Orange Box on DVD, it might be worth buying if you don't want to download :) It's around £15 on a certain jungle based website. Cheaper than it is on Steam!

Isn't there a massive update on Steam though? One reviewer said it was around a 20GB update! Or does it let you install everything from the DVD?

Cheers for the suggestions guys.

I'll order Bioshock, Oblivion, Assassin's Creed and Crysis sometime this week. I've shopped around and can get them all for around £25 with a possible 8% cashback as well! :)

May also pick up Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. I've seen it for just over £10. Can you just confirm that none of the games in this post need to mess around with Steam or have any annoying DRM?

Is it just games downloaded from Steam that are tied with it? Am I fine if I buy separate DVD/CD's?

I think the above will keep me going until FM2011 in a few months! :)

Ordered Crysis, Bioshock, COD4 MW and Assassin's Creed. Will be getting a GTX 460 tomorrow as well. I'm looking forward to it. It'll make a pleasant change from playing UT2004 on my onboard 4250 graphics! :)

Also saw Metro 2033 for around £11 brand new. I was tempted but didn't buy it in the end.

Got Crysis, Assassins Creed and Bioshock delivered this morning.

Am I OK to install the Crysis 1.2 patch straight away or does it need an earlier patch? Also, when selecting different modes in game with the mouse scroll wheel, I find it tricky to press and scroll at the same time. Maybe I should make the scroll wheel more sensitive in the settings?

I've had an hour on Assassins Creed and find it to be very scripted so far. Will I get more freedom to move around later on in the game? Also, I got the Director's Cut. Is this fully patched up already?
