Hi guys n guyettes.

I am looking for a little guidance on a gaming computer (Tower unit only). I have a basic idea of what I want and I was looking for a little advice on whether or not it's as good as I can get for gaming on a budget.

My maximum spend is £700, and it would be an advantage for me to buy the built system instead of components.

What I have looked at, and I feel is right (the part that is up for discussion), is this:

"Defender X4" AMD FX-4 4300 @ 4.0GHz Turbo AMD Radeon Quad Core Gaming PC
Standard Build Systems - Dispatched within 7 working days
24 MONTH WARRANTY - COLLECT & RETURN
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02733)
BitFenix Neos ATX Tower White/Blue
TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED38GM1600HC11DC01)
Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE250BW)
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD
Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Boost OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card
No Sound Card Upgrade

Sub Total : £574.06
VAT : £114.81
Total : £688.87

I do realise that this doesn't give the best examples. But the computer bundle that I modified is in the "Gaming PC's" section, and is the " "Defender X4" AMD FX-4 4300 @ 4.0GHz Turbo AMD Radeon Quad Core Gaming PC " with the free headset.

Thanks for any help given.

Chris

i'd probably go for the zalman z3 plus for a £40 case imo
faster ram isn't worth it in an amd system so it's spending money for the sake of it

True true...

I've heard bad things about Zalman cases though -shudder-

I believe the Raijintek cases are supposed to be really good for the price, seems to be at least

the z3 isn't the filmsiest of cases and you get a window + 4/5 fans + leds...all for £40 quid
not a bad deal by any means

Well they may be good quality then, was just going by what some others had said :)

(I was actually going to buy the Z3 plus a while back anyway!)

well they ain't the best quality. but it's a case (lol pun) of you get what you pay for.
but the zalman is definitely bang-for-buck

Being slightly computer-illiterate as I am. Is there any chance you could explain the reasoning on the changes?

Also, I don't mind building it myself if you wanna use a bit more of the budget? Shipping is also not included in the budget I might add :) Although, cost of shipping added as a separate cost would be appreciated.

As for the discussion about what case type to get. I would prefer a window, and the case I selected in my original post is only that one due to the original bundle by OC. Any better case that looks nice would be acceptable, but hopefully light colours.

Thanks again.

same build but with a white case with a window (and blue leds)
full black internal colour scheme

essentially for the same price(ish)
you get a 6 core processor instead of the 4 core processor in your original post.
that's the most significant change you'll notice.
the rest are really in the internals. much better quality parts compared to the defender x4.
re: build cost and shipping, as previously mentioned, make a thread in the cs section of the forum and they'll reply with a quote for building the custom system and shipping

6350 = overclocked 6300, not worth wasting the extra money when you can just tweak two numbers and do it by yourself :)
