Hiya, about 1 year ago now I bought a pre built PC from Overclockers - its been fine really besides a few minor hiccups with vista (nothing to do with the pc), but recently it has been hanging in a few games not very often just now and again, I ran coretemp and notice underload my CPU is reaching about 80C sometimes a tad higher.

Could this be causing the hangs? I'm not really up on the overclocking buisness so I had this machine pre overclocked, but since that crash I think some of the bios settings have changed and was wondering If someone could point me in the right direction to what settings it should be at. I have limited knowledge really but I consider myself competent with a PC.

My spec is as follows:

CPU = Quad Q6600 running at 356 Mhz (3.204) x9 Mult

Mem = DDR2 4GB (5.34 Mhz) FSB:DRAM 2:3 not sure if you need anymore info on that.

Gfx Card = 9800 Gx2 (The settings in Riva Tuner)

Core Clock: 625

Shader Clock: 1562

Mem Clock: 1000 ( In Riva Tuner)

Thanks for takin the time to read this (If you do ^.^) any help would be appreciated - Sorry for being a noob lol, any additional info I can supply also if you need any, Thanks again.

That's pretty high but not unreasonable, doubt it's the cause of the computer hanging. Overheating in general could be though, how dusty is it?

If the cpu is still overclocked the bios options should be fine, if the settings go they tend to all vanish as it resets everything to default.

My vote is that your gfx card is full of dust. Good first post btw, included as much information as we could have asked for

I opened the case and checked the card, seems pretty clean the heatsinks dont seem to be blocked so the dust filters on the case have done there job I guess lol, I recently just went to the ABIT site (Ive got a Abit IP35 Pro) to update my bios drivers and read something about the CPU hanging and its been fixed with updated bios, fingers crossed >.<, thanks for the quick reply/advice though.

I'm just worried about my memory/voltage/cpu settings that was pre overclocked @ overclockers when I bought the machine.

btw, Abit website is a load of crap - none of the download links work for anything or are uber slow lol, >.<
