Ok so i just bought a 650D from amazon from a seller YourOwnShop, it says it will take 3-4 days to dispatch so i got thinking, are they importing it?!

If i wanted to import it i would have done it from digitalrev, i chose to get it from amazon coz of their great customer service if anything goes wrong.

My question is, is there a way i can confirm if its an import? i know i can go to eoscount.com to see how many shots its taken but what can i do about finding out where it has come from.

many thanks buzz

ok they sent me this which means its an import!

Dear Rob,

Your order has been despatched today. However due to our price are competitive therefore there may be chance for the items to come from distribution channel other than UK. However these are 100% genuine Canon and covers with our full 12 Month Warranty with free labour and repairs cost.

Please let us know

Many Thanks

Regards,
W. Alex Barfield
Sales Manager

If you've paid UK price and they're sending you an import I'd cancel the order tbh. If it's import price anyway...

Most imports will come with a foreign charger and some will have limited language settings on the camera. I've handled a 7D and a 60D from HK but only the 7D was limited.

The warrenty card will be indicated to be another language, or if for example the quick starter guide is in only 2 languages, and if the first in English and then Chinese then it would be considered an import.

What questions me about your logic is, if it takes 3-4 days for it to be dispatched wouldn't it occur the same for a UK seller. If you chosen the cheapest delivery option then the seller wouldn't take priority to dispatch the item and send it out on the selected delivery method.

i didnt get a choice with the delivery!

Was it a fulfilled by Amazon sale?

If not then Amazon won't deal with the customer service side of things

Personally im pretty wary of these types of outfits and would rather important from a known and reputable business

It's arrived, with a uk plug, but it is an import as it has no warranty card! It is uk spec, part of me can't be arsed sending it back, part of me thinks send it back co I can import it in cheeper from digitalrev (£449 over £492 from them!) but I wanted a uk camera and amazon is only £25 dearer! Hmmmm decisions decisions

I'd be tempted to keep it because I'm impatient :P I bought my 650d from one of the online dealers we can't mention here anymore so I obviously didn't get a UK warranty either.

I guess it comes down to whether you think you can trust the shop you bought it from to deal with the warranty stuff should you need it!

So does he import and dodge the tax/duty or not?

I'd return it and buy from someone who could prove they had paid the required duty/tax.

Why would you do that? :P

If you want a proper UK warranty then I'd return it! Unless a grey import from another site would save you a fair amount of cash it might not be worth returning this one unless you have doubts over their ability to deal with warranty changes.

I bought mine from that P store and they seemingly have a good rep with warranty replacements so I don't mind but if these guys suck then maybe it's worth the hassle of returning it.
