Hi,

We're upgrading my brothers gaming PC at the moment. He's getting the E6750, 8800 GT and TT Tsunami case from my PC since I'm upgrading, so he mainly needs a motherboard, hard-drive and PSU.

We don't want any fancy stuff like SLI/XFire, or onboard video. We do want an intel chipset. We probably won't be overclocking. I'm thinking to save money we should go with a P35 board, unless there's maybe some advantage to P43/45? Anyway can someone recommend a nice straight forward board that's a decent performer and is pretty cheap.

Hard-drive we've been looking at the Samsung F1s, but I dunno if the 750GB is as quick as their 320GB which everyone is buying. We usually buy WD but the Samsungs are cheap and seemingly good performers. Any reason not to get the F1 750GB?

PSU wise we're looking at 450-500W, don't need more. Looking to spend the minimum but don't want some cheap Q-Tec equivalent that's going to go pop. Don't want something with weak 12V rails. Anything we should avoid here - OcUK, Hiper ones ok? Also for a P35 board do we need either ATX 2.0 or ATX 2.2 PSU?

Cheers for any and all help :)
Simon.

have a look at the following :

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £49.99 (£58.74)

OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent ATX2 Power Supply £36.99 (£43.46)

Samsung SpinPoint F1 640GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD642JJ) £49.99 (£58.74)

Sub Total : £136.97
Shipping : £8.95
VAT : £25.54
Total : £171.46

What he said ^^ but with an ethermax psu :) (brilliant brand)

You'll also find the 8800gt a tight fit in the tsunami dream (part of the past owners club here) as the hard drive cage will come right up to the card, so be a little cautious of where the hard drive ends up to get everythign plugged in :)

Cheers guys, just what I was looking for :)

I'm guessing the 640GB drive is quicker due to the two 320GB platters rather than the three 250GBs in the 750?

The GT should be fine, it's been in the case before, just need to put the drives at the bottom.
