Need some help - Custom loop but something aint right

Temperatures are fine, especially the CPU... it really is fine.

As for the GPU, I suspect temperature could be lowered by reseating the block with better paste, but only you can tell if it's worth the effort.

The coil whine is another story. When did you buy the card?

Literally the day it was released.. probably never noticed the coil whine before as it was in a case under my desk.. now its in a open P5 case its really loud

What monitor are you using, and what is the FPS when coil whine is bad?

Monitor is Predator x35 g-sync 35" mointor

Usually happens at around very high FPS.. i have afterburner lock fps to 142..

strange though Skyrim at 143 fps vs battlefront at 142 FPS and there is a massive difference in the loudness of the coil whine.. thats the bit i cant work out.

I don't mean to be pedantic, but what are you considering "very high fps" to be? Are you saying it whines very loudly at 142fps? If so, then that's a bit of an issue for you because that isn't very high fps. If it whines loudly at 500+ fps, then that's not so much of an issue because your frame limiter will remedy that.

An alternative to Rivatuner...

Nvidia control panel: Gsync ON , Vsync ON
In-game: Vsync OFF

This is how i run everything

I am limiting the FPS using RT and even in the menus where it is showing 143 fps cap the coil whine is really loud in battlefront and in game witcher 3, skyrim and others not so much.

I made this video with battlefront to see if it picks up the noise.. microphones and my cam are not the best

Coil whine at that fps would be a RMA job within the first 2 weeks, mate. Unfortunately, it's too late for that I would think.

This is why I wouldn't ever buy a card with a pre-installed block. That's not much use to you in terms of fixing things, but hey ho.

Problem is i could hear the coil while inside a case.

Just tried setting refresh to 60 and the whine is eliminated in battlefront menus.. still some in game but it manageable..

witcher 3 is bad no matter what i set it to.

Whether coil whine is a fault is down to the retailer/manufacturer. It's worth asking whether you can RMA.

For the record EVGA class it as faulty. However the card they sent me as a replacement was just as bad.

Speak to the manufacturer reference the coil whine - It could have just developed it and they may help you out. I know if it was spoiling my experience it would be the first thing I would try if return under DSR was not an option. Whilst I say that I do understand that some manufacturers do not class whine as a fault.

CPU temp is fine - as is the the GPU temp - neither are going to cause any issues for you but I still wouldn't be happy with that GPU temp hitting 60+

Maybe speak to the manufacturer and state the coil whine and the temps as the reason you're not really happy with the card and see what they say. It's worth a shot :)

It's well worth a try - worst case they say no and you're stuck with a noisy card. How you finding the build in general. I'd be too worried about dust and the openness of the design to enjoy it ha ha

fine actually

as everything is vertical including the gfx card most dust if any settles in areas pretty easy to clean.. once i have these problems sorted its being hung on the wall.

Have to say aesthetically it's very pleasing :) awesome looking system especially with the hard tubing! Doesn't have a massive foot print either by the looks of things. Makes me Primo feel massive!

my only pet hate is the cabling for the usb gpu etc.. sticks out the side so doesnt look the best but i am gonna wrap it around the back and down some conduit to my desk

Wow just WOW

MSI really need to sort there quality checking out... took my GPU out and dissembled it and there was barley any thermal paste on the GPU..

Just stuck some of the EK paste i got with my block on and now MAX temp in Witcher 3 hits 45 degrees. Most games sitting around 40.. that's boosting to 2000mhz and 5400 OC on the memory.

so glad i decided to drain my loop.. i dont care if it invalidates my warranty that just aint good enough for an 800 quid GPU.

also coil whine seems to have settled.

Yep its vented.

the case has a back that's covers all of the wiring but is vented directly behind the rad so i kept all of the wires away from that.
