Guys,

I need someone to help me figure out if this is a PSU issue, or something else entirely.

I have 2 PSU's, a Tagan 480w and a Zalman 850w.

I thought the Zalman was playing up as I heard some squeal/buzz/chatter/whine type noises from within it when running 3dMark 2003 Wings Of Fury test. It was also noticable during Vista Performance Check D3D sections.

Now, I have just ran the 3dMark test with my 8800 and the Tagan and the exact same noises are there!!

So, I need to know, is it something to do with my setup, which I find HIGHLY unlikely given that it's happening on 2 seperate systems with 2 different PSU's, or just the way that benchmark works the PSU?

Can anyone with a 8800GTX or GTX260 and 3dMark 2003 run the Wings of Fury test and see if they get this noise please?

This would help me decide if there is any point returning my Zalman as I have just requested an RMA and there's no point if the PSU is not faulty.

Thanks a lot in advance.

For info my setups are...

1 - Abit IN9-32X MAX, Intel E6320 @ 2.63ghz, 4x 1gb OCZ PC6400, EVGA 8800GTX ACS3 KO, X-Fi Xtreme Audio, 2x 250gb Samsung Spinpoints in Raid0 running Windows XP

2 - Abit IP35 Pro, Intel Q6600 @ 3.6ghz, 2x 2gb G-Skill PC8000, EVGA GTX260 SSC 55nm, No sound installed yet, Samsung F1 500gb running Vista Home Premium

Thanks for the reply, can anyone else back this up please? My RMA has been authorised, but not a lot of point sending it back if it turns out to be ok.

He is completely right

its luck of the draw you could change gfx cards and psus till the cows come home to get a combination that works well together

Could also be the mobo. Can't you get your head inside the case and listen and try and pinpoint where the sounds coming from?

Definately not the mobo, I have my upgraded system on an open bench for testing, so it's really easy to isolate any faults.

Im telling you its going to be a combination of the gfx card and PSU. I also bet money on the noise increasing when running things at high frames (Ie old games/benchmarks)
