Need some help here

Hi mates,

I am a newbie so take it easy.
I have a pentium 4 640(original 16x200=3.2gb) oc at 4ghz,2gb of ram(1:1 ratio with the cpu) and currently i have one 6600gt 256mb.If i get one 8800gts with 320mb of memory shall i take full adnvantage of the vga?I know, getting a c2d will give me a great boost but i still want to know.I play games at 1280x1024.

A 4ghz P4 will see a huge benefit from a 8800GTS-320 over a 6600GT at 1280x1024.

Yes but how much shall i take adavantage from this card?Shall i buy a 7800gt instead?I want to play games as good as possible and also use this CPU.

I went from a 6600gt to a 7900GS on my 3.2 GHz P4 C (socket 478) and noticed quite an increase in performance, although I play games at 1680x1050. I couldn't have got a 8800 due to my system being AGP, and I wouldn't have gone one due to the high power consumption hehe.

Get the nice card now, and upgrade your CPU later if you still want to. No point spending X cash now, just to get a new CPU and spending Y cash on another GPU
